Crepidotus affinis and C. occultus have a similar gross morphology with C. exilis, but C. affinis has larger basidiospores and clavate cheilocystidia with a small capitate apex. It has flabelliform cap with straight margin, generally light brown in color which gets lighter towards the margin and rugulose surface.

Three recorded occurrences in New Zealand, and one in Panama and the Philippines.

It was found growing on decomposing tree at the base of Mt. Pulag, Northern Philippines.
