Justification

This species is known from the Reserva Biológica de Guaribas in Paraíba, Brazil, and an additional nearby site. This species has been recorded growing on sandy soil in Atlantic Forest, surrounded by Coccoloba and other trees, but there is very limited information regarding its wild distribution, habitat preferences, and further potential threats. Until such information becomes available, this species is listed as Data Deficient.

Geographic range

The holotype of this species was found in the Reserva Biológica de Guaribas, in Paraíba state, Brazil (Pinheiro and Wartchow 2013). An additional specimen has also been found in nearby in Cabeça de Boi (Pinheiro and Wartchow 2013).

Population and Trends

While any wild subpopulations of this species in the Reserva Biológica de Guaribas may not be significantly threatened, the trend for the population outside of the reserve is uncertain.

Habitat and Ecology

This species is known to grow on sandy soil in Atlantic Forest, in an area surrounded by Coccoloba and other trees (Pinheiro and Wartchow 2013).

This species appears to exist under protection within the Reserva Biológica de Guaribas. No further conservation action is recommended, however further research into this species' habitat preferences, wild distribution, and potential threats should be carried out in order to build a more accurate assessment of this species.
