Assessment Notes

Justification

The only known specimen of this species was initially found in Renggam, Malaysia, however no further observations have been made since this collection. The collected specimen is currently preserved by the Naturalis Biodiversity Centre. Information regarding this species’ wild distribution and habitat preferences appears to be deficient, making it difficult to assess the current population trends of this species. If any wild populations of this species exist at its known locality, they are likely to be threatened, however without further research, this cannot be confirmed. Therefore, this species is listed as DD until further research into this species’ wild distribution, habitat preferences, and potential threats is carried out.

Chanterelle species

Geographic range

The only known specimen of this species was found at Renggam, Johor, Malaysia, at 2 degrees latitude and 103.5 degrees longitude. No further information appears to be known about this collection, however this specimen is preserved by the Naturalis Biodiversity Centre (information provided by gbif, citation needed).

Population and Trends

The current status of any wild populations of this species cannot be ascertained at this time. Without much further research, it is likely that the current trends of this species will remain uncertain.

Population Trend: Uncertain

Habitat and Ecology

The habitat of this species is uncertain. This species could be found within the lowland tropical rainforests of Ranggam, Johor, Malaysia, however without further research this cannot be known for certain.

Threats

Wild populations of this species at its last known locality could be threatened by deforestation for palm oil harvesting, however without more information on this species’ habitat and wild distribution, no threats can be assigned to this species.

Conservation Actions

Because the status of wild populations of this species is uncertain, no conservation actions can be recommended at this time.

Research needed

Much research is needed in order to confirm this species’ existence within Ranggam, Johor, to search for further wild populations, and to assess the threats which may be affecting this species, so that an accurate classification can be assigned.
