This is a widespread chanterelle of sub-Saharan Africa. It is not thought to warrant listing as threatened under any criterion. Therefore, it is assessed as Least Concern.

Geographic range

This species is known from across large parts of sub-Saharan Africa, and subspecies have been described from Madagascar too. Records from miombo, potentially are a result of misidentifications (see Buyck et al. 2012).
