There is limited information available from the type description, and only two likely records of C. devexus. With a lack of occurrence data and information on the habitat and ecology of the species, it is not possible to assess the status of its population or distribution.
It is therefore now assessed as Data Deficient.
Described by E.M. Fries under the basionym Agaricus devexus in 1821 and subsequently as Cantharellus devexus by P.A. Saccardo in 1887.
Index Fungorum lists the following as additional synonyms of A. devexus; Cantharellus replexus * devexus (Fr.) P. Karst., Cantharellus replexus var. devexus (Fr.) Fr. and Merulius devexus (Fr.) Kuntze.
Note that C. devexus is listed as a synonym of A. replexus in GBIF.
Chanterelle species to be assessed as part of the chanterelle comprehensive project.
Range unknown, it is unclear where basionym A. devexus or C. devexus were described from beyond the broad region of Europe.
One record of occurrence from the Stockholm area of Sweden is available on GBIF for C. devexus, and one record of occurrence for another synonym of A. devexus (C. replexus var. devexus) is availabe on GBIF from the United Kingdom.
Without any information about the habitat requirements of the species, it is not possible to infer the extent of the range.
Only known from type description and a maximum of two occurrence records.
Population Trend: Uncertain
The basionym A. devexus is described from the ground in November, but no other information is available.
No known threats.
Confirmation of taxonomic status, population and distribution data and ecology required to better assess species.
