Why suggested for a Global Red List Assessment?

Chanterelle species

Geographic range

This species was initially reported in the Henarathgoda Herbarium, Sri Lanka, growing on dead twigs (Annals of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya).

Population and Trends

This species is known from only a single report, from the Henarathgoda Herbarium, Sri Lanka. Because of this, it is difficult to assess the current population trends of this species.

Population Trend: Uncertain

Habitat and Ecology

Although data on the geographical range of this species appears to be lacking, its report in the Annals of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Peradeniya journal suggests that this species could be found within the tropical or subtropical rainforests of Sri Lanka, although it is only known to have occupied the Henarathgoda Herbarium.

Subtropical/Tropical Moist Lowland Forest

Threats

Because the locality of this species is known only as ‘Sri Lanka’, it is impossible to definitively identify the threats affecting this species. However, because this species exists under protection of the Henarathgoda Herbarium, and has not been reported elsewhere, it is reasonable to assume that this species is not under threat.

Conservation Actions

Because the exact population trends of this species cannot be established at this time, due to a lack of geographic information and records, no conservation action can be recommended.

Research needed

Further research into this species is required in order to confirm its presence within the Henarathgoda Herbarium and to assess its current population trends, as well as the threats which may be affecting this species.
