Since the description of Cantharellus juranus there do not appear to be any subsequent records of the species. With a lack of occurrence data and information on the habitat and ecology of the species, it is not possible to assess the status of its population or distribution.
It is therefore now assessed as Data Deficient.
Described by L. Quélet and N.T. Patouillard under the basionym Dictyolus juranus in 1888 and subsequently as Cantharellus juranum by P.A. Saccardo in 1891.
Index Fungorum lists Merulius juranus (Quél. & Pat.) Kuntze, as an additional synonym of C. juranus.
Note that C. juranus is listed as a synonym of D. juranus in GBIF, and the taxonomy as doubtful.
Why suggested for a Global Red List Assessment?
Chanterelle species to be assessed as part of the chanterelle comprehensive project.
Range unknown, basionym described from ‘Haut Jura’ in France.
No occurrence data available on GBIF for C. juranus, or synonyms.
Population and Trends
Only known from type.
Population Trend: Uncertain
Habitat and Ecology
C. juranus type described from rotting cypress wood, and basionym Dictyolus juranus on rotting fir wood, but the extent of habitat and forest type unknown. D. juranus described as occurring in the summer.
Cantharellus bryophilus described as closely resembling C. juranus.
No known threats.
Confirmation of taxonomic status, population and distribution data and ecology required to better assess species.
