Described in 1984 and not reported since. The three other species of the genus are known only from southern South America and the South Shetland Island
Reported only from two collections, one each from Campbell Island (New Zealand) and Macquarie Island (Australia), although a further collection from Auckland Island (New Zealand) is present in the herbarium of Michigan State University (MSC).
